Inches to Fishes

Privacy Policy

Short version: we don't know who you are.

1. What we collect

Two things. First, our own anonymous usage events: page views, the lengths people submit, which fish was shown, and clicks on the share button. These are appended to a log file on our own server — no names, no email addresses, no accounts. Second, we use Google Analytics (see section 4), which collects standard usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, and device and browser information.

2. Cookies

Our own analytics set no cookies. Google Analytics, however, sets its cookies (names starting with _ga) to tell returning visitors apart. They identify your browser, not you personally — we still don't know your name, and we'd like to keep it that way.

3. Server logs

Like nearly every website, our web server keeps standard request logs (IP address and browser user agent). We use them only to operate and debug the site, and for nothing else.

4. Third parties

We use Google Analytics, a service of Google LLC, to understand how the site is used. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy; if you'd rather not be counted, Google offers a browser opt-out add-on, and most content blockers handle it too — the fish will display just as well. Beyond that: no other trackers, no pixels. If you follow an external link (for example, an image-credit source), that site's own privacy policy takes over. We may add ads (Google AdSense) in the future; if we do, this policy will be updated first.

5. Your data

We can't identify you from our own logs, so there's nothing for us to look up, export, or delete. For data held by Google Analytics, the links in section 4 are the place to start. If you have questions anyway, email contact@inches-to-fishes.com and we'll do our best.
